Few people know the interesting fact that the Royal Bengal Tiger, which is the national animal of India, was the emblem of the ancient Indus Valley Civiization at Mohenjodaro in 2000 BC. It is interesting because it emphasizes the importance of wildlife in Indian history and tradition. In fact, myth commonly associates various animals & birds with various Indian deities, like the elephant [Lord Ganesh], the monkey [Hanuman], the swan [Carrier of Goddess Saraswati] and so on.
