Elephant, Tiger, Sambar, Barking Deer, Mouse Deer, Porcupine, Lion-tailed Macaque, Malabar Squirrel, Flying Squirrel, Sloth Bear and Gaur.

Periyar National park is named after the Periyar River. Periyar wildlife sanctuary is centred around the Periyar forest and forms a 55 sq. Km artificial lake. The santuary earlier known as Nellikampatty santuary and established in 1934. The sanctuary was enlarged in 1950 and named as Periyar. An excellent place for viewing elephants. It is famous for its scenic beauty.
